FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO ANNOUNCES EXCITING JANUARY ENTERTAINMENT CALENDAR

Foxwoods Resort Casino is announcing its January Entertainment calendar, full of fun and exciting events for the entire family. From the intimate settings of two state-of-the-art theaters where there is not a bad seat in the house to the highest in sound quality and comfort make for a superior concert experience – Foxwoods has something for everyone.

THE WHISPERS AND STEPHANIE MILLS

WHEN:  January 09, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

The Whispers formed in 1964 and scored multiple radio hits on the R&B Billboard charts including, “And the Beat Goes On,” “Rock Steady,” “Olivia” and “In the Mood.” The group was inducted into the Soul Music Hall of Fame in 2012. Join them for an evening of music live with Stephanie Mills. Tickets for the show are $38 & $58  

 

COMIX Presents BOB MARLEY

WHEN: January 10, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Fox Theater

Bob Marley is regularly featured on Sirius XM Radio, and has toured across the country, as well as internationally from Europe to Canada and Iraq to Kuwait. He’s done the rounds on the late night circuit, including appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Among his other more than 100 appearances on television, he has been seen on VH1’s Super Secret Movie Rules, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and USO Comedy Tour, and his own half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Bob Marley. AN EVENING WITH NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON

WHEN:  January 16, 8:00 PM

Neil deGrasse Tyson was born and raised in New York City where he was educated in the public schools clear through his graduation from the Bronx High School of Science. Tyson went on to earn his BA in Physics from Harvard and his PhD in Astrophysics from Columbia. Tyson’s professional research interests are broad, but include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the structure of our Milky Way. Tickets for the show range $35 - $75.

 

COMIX PRESENTS EDDIE IZZARD

WHEN:  January 17, 9:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

Already one of the most acclaimed comics of his generation, Eddie Izzard is developing an equally stellar reputation as a film, television and stage actor. In 2011 Izzard became the first solo stand-up comedian to appear at the Hollywood Bowl in his hugely successful show EDDIE IZZARD: STRIPPED TO THE BOWL. In April 2008, he embarked on the largest comedy tour of his career, his show titled, STRIPPED. In five months, he performed in 34 cities across the United States including three nights at New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall. Upon his return to the UK, he broke box office records by selling out a five week tour in the London's West End in less than forty-eight hours. The STRIPPED tour returned to the US for a run of arenas including a sellout show at Madison Square Garden. On television, Izzard starred in and served as a producer on the critically acclaimed FX Network Show THE RICHES opposite Minnie Driver. Tickets for the show range $45 - $65.

 

ROCK 'N' ROLL FANTASY CAMP FINALE

BATTLE OF THE BANDS and ALL-STAR JAM

WHEN: January 18, 7:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

The night is a culmination of performances by the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp bands along with an All-Star Jam featuring our ROCK STAR counselors - Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), Gary Hoey, Joe Vitale (CSN, James Gang), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot), David Hull (Joe Perry Project), Samantha Cole, and Johnny A performing the songs that made them famous along with many other classic rock hits. Plus SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTS. Tickets for the show are $20.

 

CHRIS YOUNG AND LEE BRICE

WHEN: January 23, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

Already a Grammy-nominated recording artist, Chris Young is also a dynamic live performer, an international ambassador for his genre, and a talented songwriter with five number ones to his name. After releasing his fourth album, A.M., the man known for his classic baritone and melt-your-heart ballads has more than revealed this with his current single “Lonely Eyes" that is storming up the charts. Lee Brice is a craftsman, the kind whose boundless desire to hone his skills and relentless pursuit of perfection are matched only by his humility about the entire process. His new album, I Don't Dance, is a showcase for his painstaking approach to writing and recording, with his distinctive fingerprints clearly emblazoned on every element of the album. COMIX PRESENTS JOHN OLIVER

WHEN: January 24, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

John Oliver is an Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award winning writer. His HBO show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, presents a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events. On his occasional breaks from television, John returns to his first love of stand-up and plays to sold out venues across the US. From 2006 to 2013 John was a correspondent and guest host on the multi-award winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He first came to prominence as a cutting-edge political stand up in the UK, with a string of television appearances and sold-out solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival. He has a regular guest role on NBC’s sitcom Community. Tickets for the show are $50.

 

PSYCHIC MEDIUM MATT FRASER
