The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation today celebrated the opening of its newly redesigned employee health center at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Managed by Cerner Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., the newly redesigned, on-site Cerner Health Center at Foxwoods will provide employees occupational health services including treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses, medical surveillance, physicals, drug and alcohol screenings and proactive ergonomics. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the center will be open Monday through Sunday from 7:30am to 5:30pm, and will be staffed by a part-time medical doctor, occupational health nurse, physical therapist, athletic trainer and two medical assistants.

“In addition to giving employees access to outstanding occupational health services, the partnership with Cerner will allow the Tribal Nation to more proactively respond to the health needs of our workforce,” said Mashantucket Chairman Rodney Butler. “This state-of-the-art employee health center is just the first step toward providing more comprehensive healthcare and wellness services for tribal members and employees.”

Cerner operates 35 health centers nationwide, helping employers know, engage and manage the health of their respective populations. Recognized for innovation, Cerner’s health information technologies connect people, information, and systems, at approximately 14,000 facilities worldwide.

“More and more, employers around the country are looking to on-site health care to improve workforce health, productivity and satisfaction,” said Stacie Totta, senior director, health center operations for Cerner. “This agreement will allow the Tribal Nation to more proactively manage the well-being of their workforce while giving employees access to outstanding health services.”
