FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO ANNOUNCES EXCITING SEPTEMBER ENTERTAINMENT CALENDAR

Foxwoods Resort Casino is announcing its September Entertainment calendar, full of exciting events ranging from hot pop acts and off-Broadway shows to award winning comedic performers and live athletic events.  From the intimate settings of two state-of-the-art theaters where there is not a bad seat in the house to the highest in sound quality and comfort make for a superior concert experience – Foxwoods has something for everyone.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT

WHEN:  September 5, 2014, 6:30 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

  • Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Connecticut for the first time in nearly a decade on Friday, September 5 at Foxwoods Resort Casino with an action-packed night of fights.  This exciting five-round main event pits two of the best middleweights against one another as fourth-ranked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza takes on seventh-ranked Gegard Mousasi in a bout that could determine the division’s next title contender.  The UFC is the world’s leading mixed martial arts organization.  The card will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1. Tickets are $100-$350.

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS (WITH OPENING ACT CHARM CITY DEVILS) 

WHEN:  September 5, 2014, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Fox Theater

  • The Apocalyptic Love World Tour is the second concert tour featuring former Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash as a solo artist.  Slash has received critical acclaim as a guitarist from TIME Magazine and Rolling Stone. His second solo album, Apocalyptic Love, features Myles Kennedy handling lead vocals, along with band members bassist Todd Kerns, drummer Brent Fitz and rhythm guitarist Frank Sidoris.  The set list during the tour includes songs from Guns N. Roses, Velvet Revolver, Slash’s Snakepit, and Alter Bridge. Tickets for the show are $70.  

A BRONX TALE 

WHEN:  September 6, 2014, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Fox Theater

  • A Bronx Tale is an autobiographical one-man show written and performed by Chazz Palminteri.  It tells the story of Calogero Anello, a young boy from a working class family who gets involved in the world of organized crime. Calogero’s father is a bus driver who tries to instill working-class family values in his son, but as Calogero comes of age, he struggles with the choice of following his beloved father’s values or submitting to the temptations of the life of organized crime.   The show has received critical acclaim, including nominations for the New York Outer Critics Circle for both acting and writing.  Tickets for the show are $75.

COMIX PRESENTS LEWIS BLACK 

WHEN:  September 6, 2014, 9:00 PM

WHERE:  Grand Theater

  • One of the most popular performers working today, Lewis Black is a favorite among fellow comedians and critics alike.  Black’s breakout role as a long-running, ranting correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart received critical audience acclaim and launched his personal brand.  Black is a much sought after guest for several late-night television and news shows, and has taped several specials for the Comedy Central Presents series.  Black was awarded an Emmy in 2007 for his HBO special, and has written more than 40 plays as well as four books – all of which garnered critical praise and commercial success.  Tickets for the show, which is for mature audiences only, range $40 to $60.

BRAD GARRETT 

WHEN:  September 12, 2014, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

  • Brad Garrett started his career on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and as an opener for well-known acts such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.  He is best known, however, for his role as Robert Barone on the hit CBS series Everybody Loves Raymond for which he garnered 3 Emmy Awards.   Several of Garrett’s feature credits include Music and Lyrics, Suicide Kings, The Pacifier and Sweet Lowdown.  Garret is presently co-starring in the new ABC series How to Live with Your Parents For the Rest of Your Life.   Tickets are priced at $40.

GAME UNDERGROUND TOURNAMENT SPECTACULAR 3 (GUTS) 

WHEN:  September 19 – 21, 2014

WHERE: Grand Pequot Ballroom

  • Game Underground Tournament Spectacular 3 (GUTS 3) is New England’s premier three-day video game tournament. Top pro gamers from around the work in the hottest new and classic games will compete in over 30 tournaments spanning three days.  Experience the excitement of the 5v5 Boston vs. New York exhibition matches on Saturday night and cheer on the top 8 players in each of the main event games doing battle in front of hundreds in attendance, with thousands watching at home on multiple live streams. NBC BOXING IN THE AFTERNOON 

WHEN:  September 20, 2014, 1:00 PM

WHERE:  Grand Theater

  • A special afternoon edition of NBC Sports Fight Night comes to Foxwoods on Saturday, September 20. Come and watch the main event as Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu takes on Garrett “Ultimate Warrior” Wilson in a 10-round cruiserweight bout.  Mchunu, whose professional fight record is 16-1-0 (KO 11) has been fighting 7 years. Wilson, who has 6 years of professional fighting under his belt, has a fight record as 13-7-1 (KO 7.) Tickets for the event are $40, $75, and $100.

LAST COMIC STANDING 

WHEN:  September 25, 2014, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Fox Theater

  • America’s most compelling comedy competition returned this past May with Season 8 of Last Comic Standing. The Emmy-nominated laugh-fest will perform at Foxwoods with an all-new group of the world’s funniest comics.   After America’s top 100 comics competed for the top 20 spots, the finalist moved to compelling challenge rounds, and on August 14, Rod Man was crowned the winner.  Come ready to laugh as you watch the finalists perform on the Foxwoods’ stage.  Tickets for the show are $35.

MY MOTHER’S ITALIAN, MY FATHER’S JEWISH, AND I’M IN THERAPY FEAT. STEVE SOLOMON 

WHEN:  September 26, 2014, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Fox Theater

  • Now one of the longest running one-man shows in history, Steve Solomon provides an evening of hysterical comedy topped off with the voices of almost 30 of the most hilarious characters and situations ever seen.  The show has entertained more than 450,000 people since its opening.  It is a “don’t miss” evening of side-splitting laughter.  Tickets for the show are $20.

THE COMMISSION PRESENTS R5 

WHEN:  September 27, 2014, 7:00 PM

WHERE: Grand Theater

  • R5 is a pop/rock ensemble that features three brothers, Rocky, Ross, Riker and their sister Rydel Lynch, as well as good friend Ellington Ratcliff.  Ross Lynch has appeared as a regular cast member on the Disney TV show Austin & Ally since 2012.  Similarly, Riker Lynch has had a recurring role on FOX’s Glee.  R5 has released two albums, and with their latest EP, Louder, they have established themselves as the foremost up-and-coming young pop/rock band.  A show your teen and tween will love, tickets are on sale now and are priced at $32.50 - $42.50.

COMIX PRESENTS COLIN MOCHRIE & BRAD SHERWOOD:  TWO MAN GROUP

    • Iggy Azalea is an Australian recording artist and model who is climbing the charts and gaining recognition in the industry.  Azalea’s hit “Fancy” has reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming only the fourth solo female rapper ever to top the Hot 100.  Additionally, Azalea is featured on Ariana Grande’s single “Problem”, which rose to number two on the Hot 100 in the same week, making Azalea one of only two acts ever to rank at numbers one and two simultaneous with their first two Hot 100 hits.   Ticket prices for this show are $55 and $75.
