 MASHANTUCKET, CT (November 3, 2016)Foxwoods® Resort Casino, the largest resort casino in North America, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) invite everyone to join us on Saturday, November 5 and again on Friday November 11 for the Veterans Powwow and the Seventh Annual Veterans Day Parade.


The powwow on November 5 will feature a Native art and craft market with 25 artisans. In addition, an artist meet and greet will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. featuring select artisans from the museum's Native Expressions art show.  Open to the public, the powwow and market are expected to draw roughly 1,000 attendees including veterans, active-duty service members and families. Admission and select food items are free to all veterans and active-duty military with a valid ID, plus one guest. All veterans in attendance will be recognized and encouraged to participate in programs throughout the day.

The parade on November 11, which will recognize current members of our military and veterans, will begin at the Grand Pequot Gaming Floor, continue through parts of the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods and along the retail concourse to Cedar Square and finish on the retail concourse across from Activa.

The parade will feature local veterans, local veteran organizations, the MPTN police department, The New London High School band, Tribal Council, Tribal Elders and Mashantucket Royalty, MPTN Honor Guard and Tribal Youth Dancers. Flag pins will be distributed to guests attending the parade.  Earl Roy Colebut will act as this year’s Grand Marshall.

Following the conclusion of the parade, the National Anthem will be performed, followed by Mashantucket’s own Wayne Reels, Albert Zamora and Annawon Weeden singing the MPTN flag song. Vanassa Sebastian will host the parade festivities which will also include remarks from Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council Chairman Rodney Butler.
